The Risen Tide
Highlights of The Tide for me:
- Getting $2.50 from liprap.
- The culture panel—I’ve resolved in fall and winter to cook red beans every Monday. And to veganize the foods I remember and make sure The Girl eats them regularly. And if I can find a freaks-and-geeks social aid and pleasure club, well…
And this panel could’ve been the morning, 2 to 2-1/2 hours.
- Harry Shearer—finally, Mr. Shearer. Yes, we in the blogpocheh must speak truths, debunk, and take the time we need to tell what needs to be told. He made being a loudmouth honorable.
- The politics panel [what happened to snappy names/titles?]—a good one this year. Some truth-telling, some hemming and hawing, but overall well-run by Adrastos.
- The health panel—things are being done, things are happening, but where’s the information? Where are the lists and hours and phone numbers?
- Ashley award—I didn’t recognize Jacques Morial without a suit. I didn’t realize until today that it really was him. He’s like The Stealth Morial to me.
Loki the MC of all MCs, after checking for no children in the building, led us all in a soul- and heart-clearing chant of Fuck You, You Fucking Fucks! I felt cleansed afterwards.
You know what I like about Zeitgeist? When it starts getting clammy inside, they’ll sell you a beer. A good one, too. Fair trade-off.
- Reconnecting with folks I often only see at Rising Tide, catching up, trying to keep the small, medium and large communities intact. Or rebuild as necessary. I look forward to a long lunches or coffees with a few people, individually, in the next few months.
Damn, I’m tired. And I didn’t even go out drinking after.

And then you tried to get another $5 off me today…
Great seeing you & dsb. Y’all be well.
